Ruffled Baptism Cake

I think the "ruffled" effect on cakes should be used more often! It adds great texture to cakes and makes for a nice contrast when paired with a smooth cake. I made this cake for a little girl's baptism. My idea for the ruffled bottom tier was to resemble a skirt...well, sort of. I just wanted to keep the design simplistic since I was adding that textured look and wanted that to stand out by itself. Cake is all iced in buttercream with silver dragees for the cross and a fondant top. Thanks for looking!

Patriotic Cake

I had a patriotic themed cake to make for a U.S. citizenship gathering, and decided to make this simple, tiered cake. This cake is all iced in buttercream with fondant details. I thought the spray of stars for the topper would resemble a burst of fireworks to add height to the cake. The only thing I regret was not getting a chance to take a picture of the inside of the cake :-( I made the inside red, white and blue to look like the American flag in each slice of cake. I guess I will have to re-attempt this for Independence Day! Until next time!

Princess Cupcakes

Fairytales, princesses, two precious little girls were all the inspiration to make these cupcakes. What little girl does not love to play pretend and act like a princess? Wait...just little girls??? Not any girl??? Okay, never mind :-)

These cupcakes are vanilla and chocolate with a vanilla buttercream icing. The toppers are all made out of fondant. I painted the princess corsets on white fondant to make them pop a little more and not blend in with the yellow buttercream. These were well received by the real princesses!!!
