Baby Boy "Thank You" Cake
I am always amazed at the challenges a sheet cake can bring to the kitchen. I guess it's just the basic fact that you have a large, plain cake "canvas" to decorate, and usually, I am pressed on time and not keen on making a ton of decorations to cover the large scale cake. Oh, the cake challenges! I went ahead and made this thank you cake for a baby boy's shower with a simple approach. I wanted it to look like the front of a thank you card or something to that degree. This is a white velvet cake with raspberry filling and vanilla buttercream icing. The decorations on the cake are all made out of fondant with a buttercream border. I was able get a little slice to taste it and it was yummy!

Birthday Star Cupcakes
Cupcakes for the birthday star! These were just some quick red velvet cupcakes that I made for a birthday boy. I whipped up some cream cheese icing and made little stars out of fondant and cut out "Happy Birthda..."

Ruffled Cake
I had been eyeing the ruffles on tiered cakes lately, so I thought why not give it a shot? I love to add texture to cakes, so this was the perfect technique to capture just that. The downer is that it took a lot of work piping each line of ruffles and it also took a lot of buttercream! For some reason, I was not expecting to use that much, but go figure! This is a key lime cake with limoncello filling and key lime buttercream icing. The accent flowers are made out of fondant. Thanks for looking!

80's Cake
Like totally 80's, for real, cake. This cake brought back some serious childhood memories. Good times. Especially the fashion! Ahhhhh, I have too many pictures from that era sporting the "super cool" side pony tail and leg warmers. What were they thinking to let me out of the house like that!?!? Anyway, back to cake business. This cake is covered in buttercream icing, and decorated with fondant accents. The stars were painted with edible glitter dust. Now that's rad!

Shabby Chic Cake
Well, one of my best friends is about to have a baby, so a few of us ladies threw together a little shabby chic party. We tried to keep things simply vintage and shabby. The flower ball on top of the cake is made out of fondant and RKT. The cake is red velvet on top and white cake on the bottom, both covered in buttercream icing. I must give credit to jo3d33 on CC for the inspiration on this cake. Life is totally sweet!
