Halloween Cookies

Happy Halloween, again! These are sugar cookies with almond emulsion icing and painted on jack-o-lanterns, spooky ghosts, mysterious bats and creepy, crawly spiders! BOO!

Halloween Dessert Candy Station

Happy Halloween! My best friend, Audrey and I literally, kinda, sorta, obsessed over creating a candy station for this party, so of course, since we both love to pay attention to detail and elaborate, we went ahead and created this! It started off a lot more basic, but then I realized I had so many glass containers, and just when I thought I had enough, my friend took a stash from her mother's own collection of glassware. Everything just kept growing and growing :-) I wanted to add height to some of the display pieces, so I just wrapped different shaped boxes in wrapping paper, and the little cute signs were made by Audrey. So cute!

Halloween Orange & Black Magic Cake

Creepy??? Only I would not know how to make a creepy Halloween cake! I tend to only emphasize on the cuteness factor. I love to question how cute an idea is, and if it's not cute enough, I will manage to make it cute, and of course, along the way complicate the process like no other! I am a girl, right? I would love to make a pink and black Halloween and Breast Cancer Awareness cake combination! Okay, writing that down in my idea book. So, this cake is a 2 tiered black magic chocolate cake with orange buttercream icing and black flowers made out of buttercream. I wanted to focus on a simple cake, and I think I managed to get the job done!

Military & Bridge Construction Retirement Cake

These pictures may not seem to portray this cake as huge, but this was one GIGANTIC cake! It was the largest cake I have made to date! It consists of 4 half sheet cakes combined to total 100+ servings. The theme of this cake was for a former service member and bridge construction retiree. An interesting combination to say the least, but I think with the help of my husband's bridge construction, it ended up working out. Originally, the plan was for the wooden bridge (it's painted in charcoal gray below), to lay on top of the cake, but the darn thing ended up taking over the entire cake, which I did not think was possible! Needless to say, we improvised and made it a prop for the cake display table at the event. This cake is half chocolate and half vanilla with buttercream icing. God bless America!

Cheesecake Heaven!

Now that we are in the fall season, I was eager to make a fall cake of some sort. I went ahead and made a double layer cheesecake and added a few decorative leaves made out of gum paste to add the autumn look. This was my first time experimenting with "painting" on a cake, so I had a quick 5 minute tutorial at the cake supply store, and there you have it!

NY style cheesecake with simple strawberries for decoration. Nothing too fancy, but it works!

Pink Flower Cupcakes

These cupcakes are so girly, just the way I like it! I made these for my amazing doctor in chocolate cake and buttercream icing. Mmmm, totally craving one right now!

Look Whoo's Turning 1 (Owl Themed Cake)

Oh my gosh! Talk about the cutest birthday theme EVER! I was just so excited to make this owl themed cake for one of my best friends', sweet little daughter, Caroline! I mean, I probably was a little too excited since I did go a little overboard with the dessert station, but how could I not? This is just too adorable to resist! I made this two tiered cake in chocolate for the top tier and classic white for the bottom tier with buttercream icing. I made the owl by hand with fondant and cutout the remaining decorations out of fondant. The tiered "smash" cake is white cake with buttercream icing and fondant decorations on top. The cupcakes are also in chocolate and white cake with pink fondant flowers on top. Of course, I had to get fresh rose petals to add to the table for the finishing touch. She did turn 1 and all ;-)

Floral Birthday Cake

Wow! I love the simplicity of this cake! It's my first simple cake, believe it or not. I had to really talk myself into it since I love to complicate the design of my cakes. I wanted to keep the cake a classic white and arrange deep purple flowers with some bright green fillers. I am glad I took that floral design class awhile back because I was able to use the skills that I learned from it. Don't get me wrong, I am no pro, but at least I knew enough to put this arrangement together. Flowers are my new favorite form of cake decorations! This cake is chocolate with traditional buttercream icing.
